Knight, Thomas Elden.  9/21/35 – 2/16/2020

On Sunday, February 16, 2020, Thomas passed away unexpectedly at the age of 84.  Born September 21, 1935 in Ann Arbor, MI to James and Esther Knight, He graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1953.  He joined the United States Air Force serving in Japan and bases in the Mid-west as a Military Police Officer.  After his military service, in 1958, he married the love of his life, Eloise Gleason. He worked at Mast Shoes and served as an Auxiliary Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Deputy before beginning his banking career at Ann Arbor Federal Savings where he was a mortgage officer and Branch Manager, finally retiring as an Assistant Vice President from TCF Bank. After retirement, he continued to work for Metropolitan Title Company and remained an active member of his church and the Home Builder’s Association at a local, state and national level. Thomas served on the Pinckney School Board, and the Howell Township Planning Commission.  He was a life-long outdoorsman who loved the Upper Peninsula, fishing, hunting and traveling with his wife. He enjoyed regular trips to casinos throughout Michigan and the United States.  Even with his active life, Thomas loved his family above all.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Eloise, His parents James and Esther, his brother Richard and brother-in-law Lowell.  He is survived by his two children Julie Tobin (Mike) and Charles Knight (Bonnie), four grandchildren Elena, Victoria and Connor Tobin, and Adam Knight, Sisters-in-law, Lee Ann Lofgren and Valorie Gleason, nephew James Knight and nieces Sheryl Ison (Gary) and Kathy Dey (Andy).   In Lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Seney National Wildlife Refuge, 1674 Refuge Entrance Road, Seney, Mi 49883.
