Theresa Ann (Dutton) Schaefer

Theresa Ann Schaefer of Byron, went home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2021. Theresa was born February 24, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, to Elmer and Beatrice Dutton. She was born as the second child and only girl in a large family of seven children. On September 20, 1958, Theresa married the love of her life, Walter Lawrence Schaefer in Cheboygan Michigan. They moved from Cheboygan to Detroit in the early to mid 1960’s, and finally settled in Byron in 1975. They raised seven children with the six oldest boys and the youngest a girl.  Raising a large family was a full-time job for Theresa while Walter worked for John Carlo construction company. After the children were raised, Theresa got involved with Shaklee health products as a distributor to help people with their health needs.  She was an avid gardener, and canned many vegetables.  Theresa always had a strong belief in God, and was very involved with her church.  She was always helping out at the church in many different ways.  She loved helping others, praying for people in need, lending a hand to help when she was able. 
Theresa is survived by brothers Chuck, Raymond (Leianna), Pat (Barbara), George (Laura), Daniel, sons Walter (Jacqueline), Mike (Laura), Dale (Leslie), Mark, Tom, Todd (Joann), daughter Dawn (Terry LaVere), close family friend Tom Petersmark (Sherri), fifteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Beatrice Dutton, husband Walter L. Schaefer and brother Dean Dutton. Visitations are scheduled for Tuesday, September 7th from 5-8pm at Herrmann Funeral Home at 1005 E. Grand River, Fowlerville, MI. There will also be visitation on Wednesday September 8th at 10 am, followed by Memorial services at 11am, at Place of Refuge located at 6909 E. Grand River in Fowlerville.
