Ruth Elinor (Duncan) Backhuus

Ruth Elinor (Duncan) Backhuus, age 95, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2020.  She was born January 19, 1925 in Howell MI to Frank and Bernice Duncan.  She married Clarence (Jake) Backhuus in February of 1947 who preceded her in death in 2001.  Also preceding her in death were her sisters Marjorie Sullivan and Francine Watters.  Ruth is survived by her brother Grant Duncan, age 96 of Lincolnshire, IL, her daughter Ann Millben and son John (Kathryn) Backhuus, grandson Robert (Natasha) Merritt, great granddaughter Alex Andrea (Zachary) Maurer.  Ruth loved to read, play cards, listen to music, go to the movies and care for her four beloved poodles.  Visitation will be held at Herrmann Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 18th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.   A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery with Deacon Pete Gudaitis and Pastor Tom Tarpley officiating.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Livingston County Humane Society.
