Nancy Lee Patterson was born May 2, 1941 to Rena and Floyd Hubbel
in Howell, Mi. Nancy is survived by her sister, Patty Herrmann, her
husband, Charles Patterson, eight nieces and nephews. She is preceded
in death by her three brothers, Ed, John and Bob Hubbel.
Nancy attended Howell, MI. Public Schools and graduated from Howell
High School in 1959 whereupon she enrolled at Central Michigan University
where she majored Education and became a certified elementary teacher in
the state of Michigan in 1963.
Nancy's first teaching job was with Lamphere Public Schools in Madison
Heights, MI. where she remained until 1966.
In 1965 she married Charles Patterson who was an employee of General
Motors Technical Center in Warren, Mi.
In 1967 Nancy taught elementary grades at Heartland Public Schools
during which she resided in Brighton, MI. with her husband who was pursuing
an advanced degree at U of M.
In 1968 Nancy and her husband moved to Clinton Twp. where she taught
at Chippewa Valley Schools and remained there until her early retirement
in 1987. At that time Nancy and her husband moved to their northern
cottage near Thompsonville, MI. After a short stay at Thompsonville, Nancy
joined her husband in Seoul, S. Korea where Charles fulfilled a year of
contract work at Kia Motors. Nancy was able to sight see and observe some
of the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
In 1989 they returned to their cottage on the Betsie river where Nancy
helped at the Thompsonville library and volunteered to work on the Betsie
River Restoration project. She also exhibited her "green thumb" by raising
a variety of flowers which beautified the cottage.
In 1997, the husband began to exhibit "snow fatigue" so they sought
refuge in Crossville, TN where they lived until 2018.
In 2015 Nancy was showing signs of Alzheimers so by 2018 the decision
was made to return to Howell to be close to her family.
