Kenneth Goch Obituary

Kenneth Anthony “One Shot” Goch, longtime resident of Howell, moved on to greener pastures at Caretel Inns of Brighton on July 14. He was 75 years of age.  He leaves behind his longtime companion Liz McCallum; his three children, Monique Goch, also of Howell, Marcel and his wife Donna of Gregory, and Mark and his companion Leslie of Belding; his sister Barbara Anderson and her five children of Kamloops, B.C,; his brother Stanley Goch and his family of Fenton; his five grandchildren Elaina, Marcia, Joel, Alex and Nick, as well as numerous extended family and a large network of friends.  Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Ken graduated from high school in 1962 and then served an apprenticeship in metal model making at Creative Industries of Detroit, graduating to journeyman status in 1967. He met and married Mary Helen Bernal, also of Detroit, in 1964 and they moved their family first to Brighton, and then to his most recent residence in Howell. He started M3 Excavating in Brighton and ran the business until the economic crash of 1973. Ken was then employed by Oldsmobile of Lansing, where he worked for many years until his retirement in 1995. After his loving wife Mary’s passing in 1998, he was involved with buying, selling and repair of guns and shooting accessories until his death.  Always involved with hunting, fishing and shooting sports, Ken was a member of Howell Sportsman’s Club and earned the “One Shot” nickname early on for his remarkable shooting prowess. As his life’s passion, he hunted all over Michigan and other states for many species of game, and passed this tradition on to his family. Ken loved the outdoors in general, camping and fishing with his family at numerous locations across the state, which helped instill a love and respect for nature to those around him. Ken inspired his children and grandchildren to take after him in many ways, and will always be remembered for his strong will, passion and laughter.  Funeral services will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Fowlerville on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 11 a.m followed by a luncheon to celebrate his life.
