Mrs. Karol Thompson (Woods) passed away peacefully on July 30, 2021 at Arbor Hospice in Saline, Michigan. She was a victim of a long fight with bone cancer.
Karol is survived by her husband Ronald, sons Bradley Thompson (Michelle) of Gregory Michigan, grandchildren Dean, Sarah, Owen, and Tegan, Son Jason Thompson (Dawn)ofHarper Creek, Michigan, grandchildren Sydney, Maddie, Alexandra, and Paige.
She is proceeded in death by mother Bernice, father Raymond, sisters Judy, Barbra, Susie, brother, Gary. Surviving brothers Raymond, David, Jimmie, and Glenn, along with sisters Linda and Karen.
Karol was born on December 16, 1945, in Farmington, Michigan. She attended Farmington High school. She married Ronald in 1967 and celebrated her 55th wedding anniversary on June 23rd.
Karol was an accomplished athlete. Slalom Water skiing on Harsens Island and Big Star Lake. She played a mean 2nd base on her softball team. She coached her son to two little league championships, was tenacious and amazingly proficient in tennis, leading to many victories for her team. Karol was a standout Golfer in her league at Marquette Trails, with many awards and several mentions in the local news. She was a snowmobiler, a ski-boat driver for the kids, husband, and friends, and an avid fisherman qualifying for Master Angler for Perch, Bass, Walleye, and Salmon.
Beyond all. She loved her family. Day in, day out and no matter the circumstance. Karol will be remembered in all the hearts that had the good fortune to know her; to call her a friend, a mother, a grandmother and wife.
A funeral is scheduled for 12:00pm Monday, August 2 at Hermann Funeral Home in Fowlerville, preceded by a visitation from 10:00am to 12:00pm, followed by a reception. Pastor Jeffrey Street will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karol's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Wounded Warriors Project, a charity close to Karol’s heart and one she gave frequently.
