Janis Daun (Batchelder) Russell

June 12, 2022, Janis Batchelder Russell left her home in this world to go to her eternal home in heaven. Janis was born to John Wilson and Josephine Batchelder on October 7, 1928, in Remus, Michigan. She lived in Remus until 1943 when the family moved to Howell, Michigan, where John took the Railway Depot Agent position. Janis graduated from Howell High School in 1946. Upon graduating from high school, she worked for Livingston County prosecuting attorney, Stanley Berriman, as a secretary. The same year,1946, she met Arthur Jack Russell, who lived in a rooming house next door. Jack and Janis married in Howell in 1948.Shortly after marriage they moved to what would become their place of residence for 44 years, 9016 Sargent Road, Fowlerville. There they raised their family until 1992 when they moved a half mile down the road, where Janis lived until moving to Woodland Village, Brighton in 2021. Janis worked at Fowlerville Community State Bank from1948 to 1951, she then returned to Fowlerville Community State Bank(National Bank of Detroit) in September of 1969 and worked there until she retired as a Customer Service Representative in September 1990.  She loved being the friendly smiling face that greeted customers as they entered the bank. Janis was a faithful sidekick to Jack for 64 years. Together they constantly remodeled their homes, planted, and processed garden produce and fruit, created beautiful flower gardens, fished, and camped. Janis also created amazing quilts, the love of a hobby she passed on to her oldest daughter, her granddaughters, and great grands. She deeply loved and enjoyed the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jan’s strong faith in Christ saw her through many personal and family illnesses and deaths. For years she was part of a group of church friends, meeting every Wednesday morning at Olden Days Café to eat breakfast and share in one another’s life needs and joys. In addition to her Wednesday morning group, she was also a member a weekly Bible Study that often met in her home.

She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Jack Russell, two sons, Timothy and Brian Russell, and her daughter Barbara Russell Warner.

She is survived by her daughter Brenda (Richard) Hauer of Montana, son-in-law Robert Warner (Barbara, deceased), siblings  Terry ( Mary) Batchelder and Pamela Batchelder Ingalls.
 Nine grandchildren: Andrew (Alisha) Hauer, Heidi (Dan) Soens, Bethany (Russell) McKethen, Holly (Kevin) Stadel, Bradley Ives, Heather (Evan) Rudnicki, Autumn (Gary) Steinmetz, Rebecca (Jared Farr)Warner, and Jessica Dobson Douglas. Twenty-one great grandchildren, and five step-great grandchildren.

The family wants to thank her many friends they were there for her at every turn of her life, often visiting her faithfully during her time at Woodland Village laughing and playing SkipBo. Her family also thanks Woodland Village in Brighton for their loving care of our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. And last, but not least, Elara Caring Hospice for being there when we needed you and helping our loved one pass from this world to the next.
