Frederic H. Van Gilder

Frederic H. Van Gilder, age 90 of Fowlerville, Michigan passed away on Saturday June 16, 2018.  He was born on June 14, 1928 in Webberville, Michigan.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years Patricia and 6 children: Roger, Linda (Frank), Rick (Terry), Nancy (Mary), Robert and Sue (John).  He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Herrmann Funeral Home in Fowlerville, Michigan on Tuesday, June 19 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.  The funeral will be held at Meadowbrook Farms located at 5600 W. Grand River, Fowlerville, Michigan on Wednesday June 20 at 11:00 am with additional visitation at Meadowbrook from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Fred began his career as a farmer at a very young age alongside his father and brother in Webberville.  Then Fred and Pat continued on their own while farming in Livingston County which is where the main farm is located today.  Van Gilder Farms was Fred and Pat’s heart and soul.  It has grown into a family business with many valuable and loyal employees. His legacy in the farming community is one of unwavering generosity and stewardship. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Fowlerville FFA.
