Esther Jean Callihan (DeHart) 77, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2023, with family by her side.

Esther was born the eldest to Helen (Volk) DeHart on October 13, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up in Dearborn Michigan where she attended elementary and High School.

Esther was 18 when she met the love of her life, Kenneth Callihan, and in June of 1964 they married. They went on to celebrate a marriage that lasted 52 years until his death in October 2016. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Jr (Belinda) and Steven (Christine), 5 grandchildren, Rebecca (Ryan) McVay, Brett (Sarah), Katie, Shane, and Shelby (Trevor) Livingston, and 2 great grandchildren, Hadley and Quinn, sister Penny and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Esther was very proud of her family and loved cooking for them. She had a fondness for the slot machines and couldn’t pass up a sale. She also loved her dog Charlie.

The years after the death of her husband were buoyed by the friendships she had with her neighbors, friends from church and Thursday night dinners with her son Ken.

She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her mother Helen, sister Sylvia and brother Joseph.
