Edward A. Matte, age 68, died July 16, 2020 in Fowlerville, MI. Ed was born on December 1, 1951 to Donald Matte and Joyce (Weatherly) Matte of St. Clair Shores, MI. He was born into a loving and incredibly close family. He grew up with his sister Donna Marie Coller (Matte), Papaw, Mamaw, Aunts, Uncles, and lots of cousins. He fondly remembered all the memories made in St. Clair Shores, and the “weekend cabin” in Brighton, MI. Ed was a proud family man and loved his children very much. He is survived by his children, Rebecca (Matte) Schreiber (Mark Schreiber), Donald Matte (Spencer Matte), and Kimberly (Matte) Keil (Matt Keil); his grandchildren, Reiann, Cheyenne, Tyee, Aliya, Brooklynn, and Wyatt; great grandchildren DJ and Jagger. Ed spent the later part of his life living in Indiana and Kentucky. He made many close friends over the years and was known by everyone in the restaurants he frequently visited. He will be remembered by so many. Ed was a devoted follower of Christ and contributed his beautiful voice to many church choirs over the years. He would often testify to God's saving grace over the course of his life to anyone willing to listen (and even those who were not willing to listen). He was a hard worker and enjoyed working with his hands; always taking things apart and putting them back together. He delighted in tools, woodworking, and cars. Ed fought a long and valiant battle after suffering from a serious injury to his arm and many other health complications that followed shortly after. He came to a point that he was tired of fighting and ready to enter the gates of Heaven and all it promises. His children courageously honored his wishes as his advocates. He came home to be with his family as he finished his journey and made a peaceful transition to be with God. The family will be holding a private memorial in Michigan on Saturday, August 15th, 2020. Please contact the family directly for memorial details. Please join us as we celebrate the beautiful life of Ed (Dad) Matte.
