Dorothy Panoff Ellis, age 97, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Caretel Inn of Brighton. Dorothy was born in Detroit, MI on May 2, 1926 to Sime Gule and Poria (Spardonoff) Panoff.
During World War II, Dorothy helped build engines for the military. Her ambition was to enlist and become a pilot but was precluded because of the times. She married Angelo Ellis in Detroit on November 8, 1953. She then served in the American Red Cross and following that entered a career in banking. She worked at the Bank of Commonwealth at Fort Street and Junction until she retired and moved to West Branch, Mi to enjoy the Northwoods. She became an active member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saginaw, Mi.
Dorothy is survived by one sister-in-law, Helen Basis of Chicago; 12 nieces and nephews; 17 great nieces and nephews; 10 great great nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A funeral service will be held on August 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Grand Blanc with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
