Charlene Smith Obituary

Charlene May Smith was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on October 26th, 2021. Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She is survived by William David (WD) Smith, her husband of 56 years, three children, Tracey (Mike) Depa, Jenniffer Smith and Joshua (Jennifer) Smith.  She also was blessed with 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Catherine Elaine Ellsworth, Patricia Lee Schommer and nephew Corey Edward Nichols and great nephew Devlin Huschke.

She was an entrepreneur, a master gardener, a carpenter and even house flipper before it was considered flipping.  She had the spiritual gift of hospitality and was an amazing cook.  She was a visionary, clever and sometimes a little bit mischievous.  Over her lifetime, she had been a foster parent, a schoolteacher, a Sunday school teacher, has lead bible studies in her home and influenced many others in their faith journey.  Her children relied on her for perspective on parenting, counseling them on ethics and being an upstanding citizen. She opened her home to anyone in need and their home was a safe haven.

Charlene’s love of God and love for her family towered over all else in her life.  She was a ferocious protector and a generous giver. Luckily, for many people, Charlene’s definition of family was broad allowing her love and care to be felt by many, far and wide.  Her sense of humor and joy of life will live on in all who knew her.  Her strong faith provides an example and comfort to all who loved her.
