Bernadine Cissney Obituary

Bernadine Frances Cissney (Linhart), of Brighton, passed away June 28th, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Her long battle with lymphoma ended, and she is now able to rest peacefully. She was 61 years old. Bernadine was born on September 29th, 1960 to parents Jerry and Mary Linhart in Howell, Michigan.

She is survived by her loving husband George E. Cissney, Jr. Her daughters Angie (Bruce) Beebe, Michelle Cissney, and Heather (Robert) Cissney. Her son George  E. (Rachel) Cissney III. Her grandchildren Kendra, Bruce, Alyssa, Kaylee, Dakota, Aliana, George IV, Wesley, Megan, and Justin. Her sister Cynthia (Mike Schemer) Hubert. Brothers Jim (Betty) Reiter, Jerry (Dian) Linhart. She was preceded in death by her brother the late Ben Linhart, and her sister the late Shirley Whittaker. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.

Bernadine met her husband, George, while they were in the 6th grade, and anyone who knows them will know them as “George and Bernie.” They shared the kind of love that others can only ever dream of having and experiencing. They were the absolute loves of each other’s lives and they were also the very best of friends. They were married on December 3rd, 1978 and spent the next 43 years raising a beautiful family together. They shared 4 children, and 10 grandchildren. They created a beautiful home and a very close, strong, and loving family, which they could both be very proud of together. Bernadine and her husband spent every minute they could together over the 48 years they shared with one another. To her husband, George, she was the most wonderful and beautiful woman he has ever met in his lifetime, and if he could go back, he would go back just so he could start over and love her all over again.

Bernadine was a selfless and faithful woman and always put others before her or her own well-being. She was a “mother to all.” If you needed love in any way, Bernadine was there to give it. She had this way of making every person in her life feel special in their own way. To her children, actual children as well as those many she “adopted” over the years, she was everything to them. She was their mother, and she was the best mother that has ever existed in this world. They all feel so honored that they were here children. She was always there for her children, no matter what, and to her children no other woman will ever compare to her, not even come close.    Bernadine loved every single one of them with unconditional love, no matter what they were going through in life; she still showed amazing love, strength, and kindness to everyone.

Bernadine was an amazing cook, as anyone who has ever been lucky enough to have attended one of her many family gatherings, would tell you.  She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino with her husband, George, and getting away to their favorite vacation spot, “The Island,” in the upper peninsula of Michigan.  She was an avid “America’s Got Talent,” television show watcher and she enjoyed “The Price is Right,” as well as “Antiques Roadshow.”

Bernadine has left an imprint on her family and on anyone and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing this amazing woman.  She raised such a close and loving family who has been strong enough to come together and hold each other up during this tragic time of need. She would be very proud. Her biggest accomplishment throughout her life is the family she created with her husband, George. The love that they created together is awe-inspiring and is unmatched in every way. Although Bernadine has gone home to heaven, her home will always remain with her loving husband, her children, and her family. She will remain in our hearts forever more. She is all around us; she is everywhere, our sweet, angel Bernadine.
