John T. Streeter Jr. died peacefully surrounded by his family on March 26, 2018 in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the age of 74 after a long battle with diabetes, congestive heart failure, and most recently, complete renal failure.
John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rita Ann (Quast) Streeter, whom he met when he was 14 and she 11. He was known for saying that “I had to wait for her to grow up” to marry her. He also leaves behind two daughters Michele Streeter and Mary Joins (Chris), two beautiful granddaughters, Hannah and Megan Joins. He thought the world of his family!! He was an only child who chose to embrace others; cousins, friends, etc.
John was born on April 27th, 1943 in Detroit, MI to John T. Streeter Sr. and Neavella May (Hinton) Streeter. After moving to Detroit, John began working as a hydraulic pipefitter and worked at many different companies over the years, ending his career at Ingersoll Rand in 1994 with a medical retirement.
John was an accomplished woodworker and loved to work in his woodshop. He created shelves, bookcases, and his last accomplishment was a glider for his wife. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, and wildlife. He loved being up in Lewiston, his home away from home, spending time, having “gatherings” and being with his #1 person-his wife. He loved his grandchildren, Hannah and Megan, and enjoyed spending time shooting muzzleloaders and throwing knives with one and baking and playing cards with the other.
