Joan Dolores (Humrich) Eckert

Joan Dolores Eckert, 86, of Fowlerville, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 and is now with her Savior Jesus Christ. She was born October 12, 1930 in Wyandotte Michigan to Charles and Henrietta Humrich.  As a young child she moved to the Fowlerville area.  She graduated from Fowlerville High School in 1948.  Upon graduating she attended the Lansing Business School.  She married William (Bill) Eckert in 1953. She devoted her life to being a wife, mother, and grandma.  Her favorite pastime was being outdoors and working in her flower gardens.  During their retirement years she loved to camp and travel with one of her most memorable trips being their trip to Israel in 1995.She is survived by her children: David (Debbie) Eckert of Webberville, Daniel Eckert of Fowlerville, and Jeanne (Bryan) Westerby of Myrtle Beach, SC.  Her 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  Also, many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents and brothers and sisters.A service celebrating her life will be held Tuesday, October 10 at 11:00am at Place of Refuge Church, 6909 E. Grand River, Fowlerville.  Graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday, October 9 from 4:00-8:00pm at Place of Refuge Church and at 10:00am prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked memorial contributions may be made to Youth Haven Ranch or Aliyah’s House.
