William Dean Copeland

William “Bill” Dean Copeland Junior, age 56, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday November 11, 2017 in Fowlerville, Michigan.  Bill was born on August 5, 1961 in Detroit Michigan to William Dean Copeland Senior, and Mary Margaret Fauls Copeland. He was a graduate of Denbigh High School in Newport News Virginia. After high school, he began working with NASA, in Langley Virginia, where he began and furthered his education in what ended up being his lifelong career in the Information Technology Field. Bill moved to Michigan in 1997, where he began working for the University of Michigan. Bill just celebrated his 20- year anniversary as a project engineer with HITS (Hospital Information Technology Systems).

 Bill was preceded in death by his father William Dean Copeland Senior, his mother, Mary Margaret Fauls Copeland, and his sister Carol Louise Copeland.  Bill leaves behind his most prized accomplishment, his son, William Krystofer Copeland, 11 of Marlette, Michigan. A niece, Colleen Renee Gilbert and husband of Gastonia, NC. A nephew, Brian Christopher Barnett and his wife of Brighton, Michigan. A nephew, Kevin Douglas Barnett of Charlotte, NC. A nephew, Brendan Keith Barnett, of Matthews, NC. He is also survived by many extended family members, including several cousins, great nieces and great nephews. He also is survived by his girlfriend, Barbara Kovacs Howell and her son Garrett Howell of Fowlerville, Michigan.

Bill was well known for his sense of humor. He was that one person who could make anyone laugh, regardless of their mood. He had more friends than most people and no one would be a stranger for long, due to his outgoing personality. He was a loyal sports fan and was devoted to the Wolverines, Lions, Redwings, and Tigers. Bill was a unique, free spirited and intelligent man. His interests were as diverse as he was. From computer games, to sports, golfing, yearly trips to Vegas with his “brothers”, he had an arsenal of interests. Bill was greatly loved by many, and always left an impression, as anyone who knew him loved him. His intelligence was undeniably above average, and his love of astronomy, and history would lead to many long conversations. Above all else, Bill was first and foremost a devout and wonderful father. His son Will was the love of his life, and he spent much time with Will teaching him about the stars and skies, playing laser tag or building Lego’s. He was truly a man to look up to.

Those who knew Bill will forever feel the empty space that our loss of him has left, we will always remember and cherish him with a deep, unconditional love, and the imprint he left on our lives will never go unnoticed.
